Moms, Pops, and Tots: Coed, ages 18 months to 3 years old - (45 minute class)

Spend quality time with your child while introducing them to the fun of physical activity in a safe environment. The instructor helps you help your child develop large motor skills, coordination, strength, and group/social skills through gymnastics activities

Preschool: Coed, ages 3 years old to pre-K - (45 minute class)

We introduce the preschooler to gymnastics including work on gymnastics apparatus while developing large motor skills, coordination and strength. There is fun, encouragement, and lots of positive reinforcement. Pre-Schoolers have the opportunity to participate in the Mini Olympics Exhibition which is planned for every year.

Girls work all the women's Olympic events (vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor/tumbling). Classes are based on a students skill level. Students will be evaluated during the year. Parents/students will receive copies of their evaluations. Once a students passes a level, they will be able to enroll into the next level. They will all be invited to participate in the Mini Olympics. This meet is a fun way for students to experience the competitive aspects of gymnastics. Participation in this fun event is encouraged, but not mandatory. This meet is held at Leading Edge Gymnastics and students compete with other students.

ATTIRE: Girls wear a leotard or t-shirt & shorts with bare feet. Leotards with skirts should not be worn for gymnastics classes. Boys wear a t-shirt & shorts with bare feet. If long pants are worn, they must not touch the floor as this would be a safety hazard. Hair must be pulled up and back from the face. No jewelry except post earrings

WHY CHEERLEADING? Cheerleading is a great overall body conditioning activity that you can have your child involved in. Here are some of the attributes you will find developing in your cheerleader:

Physical attributes: strength, flexibility, kinesthetic awareness, muscular control, muscular endurance, coordination, timing, explosive power, running speed, balance and grace.

Mental attributes: positive thinking and self- image, self-motivation, confidence, patience, goal setting, work ethic, team work, courage and enjoyment.

Cheerleading demands total dedication, complete commitment and a desire to be the best you can be. The athletic skills and physical fitness one develops in cheerleading no doubt stays with many competitors long after they have retired from the sport. But, it is the mental soundness that cheerleaders develop, their intellectual fitness that is of greater value. Cheerleading is a sport of opportunity. Each cheerleader at Legacy Allstars is given the same opportunity. What they do with it is their choice!

Men’s gymnastics requires the greatest strength, and agility of any sport. Such strength and agility can be easily transferred to just about any other sport.

At a young age, a boy gymnast learns the basics of movement and body positioning, as well as the mental understanding of how to break down more complicated tasks into their parts, then combine them into a whole.

Staff

Kelle Riley-Team Director. Years at LEGA-12. Years of Coaching experience -20+Before coming to LEGA, Kelle owned and operated Kelles Gymnastics club. During her time at LEGA she has received numerous awards for her accomplishments as a coach. Most recently she was nominated by her peers and named Region 2 Coach of the Year 2009! In addition, her and the other LEGA Optional staff were named Washington States Coaching Staff of the Year for the 2nd year in a row! This is a huge honor and represents her total commitment to improving the sport of gymnastics. Kelle had produced champions at all levels, too many to list. Kelle spends most summers as a guest coach at other team camps/clinics. She is highly respected in the gymnastics community by her peers, judges and gym owners. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated, talented coach running our Team program.Bob Levesque-Optional team Manager. Years at LEGA- 3. Years of coaching experience- 30+Bob has many years of coaching experience and worked at Fresno Gym Club for 5 years and then National Academy of Artistic Gymnastics for 7 years. In 1985 he opened his own gym in Eugene called the American Gymnastics training Center. In 1990 Bob accepted a position as Head Coach of the University of Washingtons Womens Gymnastic program, where he coached for 16 years. Bob is the only gymnastics coach at UW to qualify a team to the NCAAs and he did so 3 times. He has coached 6 Olympians and many State, Regional, Western and National Champions. Bob holds a Bachelors degree in Physical Education as well as a teaching credential.Tony Ammons. Years at LEGA-5. Years of coaching experience- 25+Tony has spent a total of 5 years with LEGA. Early in his career, he coached the Philippine National Team to 2 silvers at the Southeast Asian Games. He has coached many National Champions as well as worked with several Olympians. Tony has coached numerous State, Regional, and National champions. He has been awarded WA state Optional Coaching Staff of the year while at LEGA. Tony is highly respected in the sport of gymnastics and is often asked to head-up optional camps and clinics.Betsy Woodruff. Years at LEGA- 15. Years of Coaching Experience-20+Not only has Betsy been a level 4-10 coach for many years, as well as a choreographer. She attended National and Regional Compulsory clinics for the current routines and Junior Olympics requirements and is the technical expert at LEGA. She has been a coach at both the Oregon state and UW gymnastics camps last summer. Betsy was an accomplished gymnast through level 10 and placed 4th and 6th at Nationals and did one year Elite. She went to University of Washington on a full 4 year gymnastics scholarship. We are fortunate when we do have Betsy as coach and advisor.Sandra Wherley. Compulsory CoachSandra"s love and commitment for Gymnastics was found early in Junior High. She trained under Erika Backas and Dimitri Taskov. Coached compulsory for 2 years at Naydenov.

Our mission if to produce a “QUALITY” gymnast. By “QUALITY” we mean a gymnast who is learning in a safe, positive, fun and enthusiastic environment and is doing THEIR BEST.Why Gymnastics?Gymnastics is the base sport for all other sports. It is the greatest overall body conditioning activity that you can have your child involved in. A study was done testing the components of physical fitness (strength, flexibility, coordination etc.) of a number of college athletes involved in various sports. When the totals were added up, gymnasts proved to be the most physically fit.
